Mejia weighs in…

From today’s Bee:

Meanwhile, the superintendent of the Sacramento City Unified School District said Friday that she will act on issues raised by the federal probe, as well as by The Bee’s coverage of how Johnson’s personal attorney handled an internal investigation into the claim against him. After the attorney questioned her, the 17-year-old recanted.

Superintendent Maggie Mejia said she would recommend that the district’s school board conduct its own inquiry “for the safety and security of our students.” Sacramento High is an independent charter under the auspices of the district.

The Bee also runs an editorial today about how St. Hope Corporation mishandled an abuse allegation against Kevin Johnson at Sacramento Charter High School.
